Pierrick Thébault is a design researcher and practitioner interested in complex systems, data exploration/visualization and privacy-enhancing technologies. He is Chief Design Officer at Qwant, where he leads the product design team and the development of search-related proof-of-concepts. He holds a master’s degree in interaction design from L’Ecole de Design Nantes Atlantique (France) and a Ph.D. from Arts et Métiers ParisTech (France). In the last eight years, he has explored a variety of design fields (user interface design, interaction design, user experience design and design research) and have learned to work within different contexts (R&D department, academia, startup, consultancy), both directly with clients and within a multidisciplinary team.
His past experiences as lead designer at AXA’s Data Innovation Lab (France) and postdoctoral researcher at MIT SENSEable City Lab (USA) brought him to design and implement several data browsers allowing the general public and professionals to explore urban phenomenons. Prior to that, he was one of the first designer to work with Bell Labs researchers (France, USA, Belgium) on the implementation of Internet of Things architectures.
